    Darn that pesky Constitution...
and some amendment about cruel and unusual punishment.

If they are found guilty of the crime, there are already punishments within the framework of the law. Not long after we decide to "sterilize" criminals, we run the risk of extending the practice to Jews and gypsies...(or so history demonstrates).

What a leap even for you Chuck
Following your logic, because I honked my horn at black person that cut me off at an intersection yesterday, your logic path would conclude that I am a racist?

Yeah, I gotta go with Realist on that one
you could jump an ocean with a leap like that.

    C'mon Chuck
This woman should never be responsible for another child. Unfortunately, the punishments currently existing within the framework of the law will not prevent her from getting pregnant again.

Realist, you didn't follow my logic at all
It isn't unconstitutional to honk your horn at a black person.

Conducting an involuntary sterilization as punishment for crappy parenting falls straight into the "cruel and unusual punishment" category.

Let's say you honked your horn at a pedestrian. The pedestrian didn't move, and you ran him or her over. Should we send you to jail for XXX months or years (whatever the law allows) or should we cut off both of your hands and feet to be sure you never drive a car again?

I assume all the "sterilize her!" folks are adamantly pro choice.
Nobody else would dare interfere with a woman's right to get pregnant and snuff out all those potential lives.

    say wa?
Since when do prolife folks have to be against birth control? Chuck, that argument doesn't work and, frankly, is below you. You can take any point to the far extreme to be inflammatory, but that doesn't make your point.

Chuck's comment about being adamantly pro-choice
*Preventing* pregnancy is far, far different from terminating an existing pregnancy. Secondly, I question anyone's mental state when they say something like they want 12 kids. That is insane, sorry. Either she's too stupid to really think about what kind of money, time and effort 12 children will require, or she is insane. Maybe both! She can't properly take care of the two kids she already has, but sure, lets have TEN more! Nutjob.

Chuck and "cruel & unusual punishment"
So we shouldn't inflict "cruel & unusual punishment" on this woman by sterilizing her (which would be done properly by a doctor, with anesthesia and pain meds), but we should continue to allow her to inflict cruel and unusual punishment on her innocent, defenseless babies by starving them, and god knows what else she and her creaton husband have done to them? No logic there. Cruel and unusual would be more like female genital mutilation, not sterilization. She can have as much sex as she wants, just not to create another life.

    Actually
We should have spay and neuter clinics for teenagers. Make the procedure reversible so when they grow up and get a job and demonstrate they can take care of the babies they squeeze out it can be undone. Make it irreversible for liberals.
